A non-binary person identifies outside the gender binary.
"When I was a child I struggled to fit in with the girls in my class and felt much happier with the boys. I dressed like them, I acted like them, I talked like them.
As I got older, I tried to make myself more feminine (mostly out of fear of being bullied) but I never felt comfortable.
It took me a long time to find and accept who I actually am but now I have, I’ve never been happier. The people who matter to me don’t care how I identify. It doesn’t change who I am, just how I feel.
I’ve always been confident that the people around me would accept who I am but it was still a wonderful feeling when I tested that assumption and was proved right. The world still isn’t ready for people who exist outside of the gender binary but we’re getting closer and closer every day."
